Marketing and sales executive Carolyn Zonino has put her professional experience to good use in various capacities as a Lighthouse Guild volunteer. Over the past 13 years, she has been instrumental in organizing and volunteering at a number of fundraising events.
Carolyn was first recruited by a friend involved in one of New York’s leading fashion fundraisers, the Lighthouse Guild POSH sale. Over time she took on increasing responsibility for the event: attracting other volunteers, soliciting clothing donations from leading designers as well as food and beverages for the POSH after-party, and overseeing the entire event as POSH Committee chair. Carolyn also co-led the Double Up 4 Vision Tandem Bike Ride/Walk fundraiser, which ultimately merged with the TD Five Boro Bike Tour. As the pandemic put a halt to fundraising events, Carolyn stayed involved by helping Lighthouse Guild clients prepare their tax returns. When New York opened up again, she served as lead point person for the Night of Inspirations event honoring volunteers and donors.
“It’s very rewarding to raise funds that directly contribute to the exceptional service Lighthouse Guild provides to its clients, and to get other people involved in volunteer work,” Carolyn says. “I’ve benefited as well, developing lifelong friendships with others committed to supporting this amazing organization.”
