Lighthouse Guild recognizes excellence in vision research, technological innovation, and leadership in advocacy through four annual awards. Our awards honor excellence in translating research into treatment and rehabilitation, development of technology, and advocacy for people with vision loss.

The efforts of the award recipients directly contribute to Lighthouse Guild’s mission of providing services that inspire people who are visually impaired to attain their goals.

The human eye is an organ which reacts to light and pressure. As a sense organ, the mammalian eye allows vision. Human eyes help to provide a three dimensional, moving image, normally colored in daylight. Rod and cone cells in the retina allow conscious light perception and vision including color differentiation and the perception of depth.
