Comprehensive eye care from the experts in Low Vision.

When was your last eye exam?

For people with low vision, changes in vision can be subtle. You may not even notice it happening. Regular eye exams can detect eye disease and treat vision problems early, which can prevent the permanent loss of sight.

We specialize in low vision, which cannot be corrected with glasses, contact lenses, or surgery. Our medical team can help you maintain a healthy lifestyle, optimize your vision, and reduce your risk of vision loss. The level of personalized care we offer is hard to find elsewhere.

At our Optic Shop in New York, we make eyeglasses on site, including specialty lenses for people with all types of vision problems. You can also learn about magnifiers and other optical devices that help you see better. It’s one stop for all of your vision care needs.

What is a Low Vision Exam?

Who we help

Low vision requires special expertise, as it cannot be corrected with glasses, contact lenses, or surgery. It may stem from disorders of the retina, such as diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, or other eye diseases like glaucoma.

Our patients include people whose vision is threatened by health conditions such as:

  • High blood pressure
  • Diabetes
  • Glaucoma
  • Macular degeneration
  • Cataracts

What to expect

Our vision specialists will determine the level of your vision loss. We may even recommend tools you can use to improve your ability to read, work, socialize, and enjoy other activities. Our low vision optometrists assess your remaining vision and work with you to maximize your eyesight through the use of adaptive devices and exercises.

I was at a point where I could not function. When I came to Lighthouse Guild, I could see almost nothing. But now I have a quality of life again. I can’t believe it.
