Share Your Talents: Your Creativity Can Inspire and Uplift

Whether through music, dance, theater, visual arts, or crafts, you can engage adults who are visually impaired with the arts.

When: Opportunities are available Monday through Friday, from 10 AM to 12:30 PM. You can volunteer during school holidays if you’re busy during school hours. We will work with you to find a day that fits your schedule. This is your chance to create meaningful experiences for people who are blind or have low vision.

Give Your Time: Serve, Fundraise, Make a Difference

Engage in customized volunteer activities such as:

  • Serve as guides for older adults on wellness walks.
  • Host games, unique craft projects or other activities that reflect your interest or expertise.
  • Organize a drive or fundraiser in support of one of our programs.

Working as an individual or in a team teaches essential life lessons such as communication, collaboration, and problem-solving. Taking on responsibilities and leading projects helps you learn how to guide others, make decisions, and manage challenges — essential skills for future success. Volunteering also provides valuable real-world experience, allowing you to witness firsthand the positive change you can create when working with others.

When: Once you sign up as a volunteer, we will schedule a meeting to discuss your interest in service and match you with the right activity and schedule.

Student Projects

An opportunity for a class or school group to participate in a well-rounded service project involving awareness raising, service, and leadership development through philanthropy.

When: Opportunities are available for a Semester in October or February. Lighthouse Guild will work with the class or group advisor to schedule the workshop and the concluding program.

The class or group will visit Lighthouse Guild to participate in a workshop:

  • Tour our facility
  • Learn about vision impairment and how to guide someone who is visually impaired.
  • Learn about vision loss and vision care.
  • Engage with people who experience vision impairment and other disabilities.
  • Raise awareness about vision impairment among peers.
  • Learn about our various service options to assist individuals who are blind or have low vision and could benefit from support provided by a drive or fundraiser organized by a class or group.

After the workshop, the students will share what they have learned with their classmates. They are also required to create a school drive or fundraiser for the Lighthouse Guild program of their choice and rally their classmates, friends, and family for support. The project will conclude with a presentation about their drive or fundraiser, and certificates of participation will be awarded.
