Preparing Your Child for a Successful School Year

Join us as we offer advice for parents about what they need to have ready for school and how to prepare their child for school. We will cover what parents should be prepared to tell the school and teachers about their child, how to prepare for homework, how to get involved in advocating for your child, and how to help you understand what the new school year might be like.

About the Speakers: 

Nancy Doyle is a NY State Certified Teacher of the Visually Impaired who has been working with blind and visually impaired children at the Lighthouse Guild for over 15 years. She is currently providing vision services for the Lighthouse Guild at the Adapt Community Network Manhattan Preschool Program.

Gale Delaney has over 15 years of experience as a mobility instructor. She has worked with students of all ages in community and school settings. During her time at St. Joseph’s School for the Blind in New Jersey, Gale developed programs that incorporated music and movement with traditional mobility. In 2012, Gale joined the mobility department at The New York Institute for Special Education servicing students from kindergarten to age 21where she trained students in independent travel Currently, she works in the Lighthouse Guild Saturday Youth Program as an arts and crafts teacher and Vision Rehabilitation Instructor. Gale graduated from the Vision Program at the University of Massachusetts.
