September 16, 2025 – The Explorers Club, New York City

Lighthouse Guild welcomed more than 160 guests for its annual cocktail reception at the historic Explorers Club. The Club, with its storied commitment to exploration and advancing knowledge, was a fitting venue. Like the Explorers Club, Lighthouse Guild is leading the way with research and technology—broadening the world for our community members.

Throughout the evening, guests mingled and explored the latest in assistive technology, including meeting an ambassador from Lighthouse Guild’s Tech Pals program.

During the formal program, Board Chairman James Dubin welcomed our new President and CEO, Thomas Panek, who shared his vision for Lighthouse Guild and highlighted the story of Amanie Riley. With support from Lighthouse Guild, Amanie is pursuing her dream of becoming a teacher of people who are blind and have low vision.

Marc Rosen also announced the creation of The Harry Benson Photography Center for the Visually Impaired. In an extraordinary collaboration with world-renowned photographer Harry Benson CBE, Lighthouse Guild is proud to launch the first facility of its kind.

Harry Benson’s career has defined modern photojournalism. From capturing The Beatles on their first American tour to portraits of leaders, artists, and historic events, his lens has revealed humanity and beauty in every subject. His work demonstrates that photography is more than sight—it is vision, perspective, and storytelling. The new Center will bring this belief to life.

Stay tuned for more on this exciting initiative. In the meantime, enjoy highlights from the evening in the photo gallery below.
