Ready to Have Some More Fun on Saturday Mornings?  Let’s Get Insightful!

The Insightful Saturdays Virtual Youth Enrichment Program is an entirely virtual experience for children ages 6-13 who are blind or visually impaired to:

  • Connect and socialize with other kids who share the common bond of vision impairment
  • Learn skills for greater self-esteem, self-confidence, and independence
  • Strengthen social-emotional skills related to expressing needs, solving problems, and managing stress
  • Harness their creativity and imagination

Led by a team of enthusiastic, skilled teachers who understand the unique needs of students, the activities encourage students to talk, think, move, create, and play, all while learning to navigate the world with vision impairment. Activities include:

  • Friendship Circles
  • Interactive Games
  • Lessons on Using Adapted Tools
  • Practice with Accessible Tech
  • Role Model Interviews: Guest Talks with Successful People with Vision Loss
  • Skits and Improvs
  • Yoga, Mindfulness, and Movement

Enrichment “Tool Boxes” will be regularly mailed to students containing supplies for upcoming lessons and activities, bringing to life what’s on the screen!

To be eligible for the program, a student must:

  • Be between the ages of 6-13.
  • Have vision loss that significantly impacts their day-to-day lives (such as low vision or legal blindness).
  • Be able to participate in a virtual environment (listen to instructions, communicate with teachers and other students by speaking or chatting, not cause disruptions to the discussions, etc.)

Parents, You’re Part of This Too!

We may need you to jump into an activity, support your child with completing a task, or help out with other needs during our sessions. And, of course, you play the most important role of all by reinforcing the concepts we introduce throughout the week. Please plan to be part of the fun and learning!

Space is limited, register today!
