Hello, everyone! My name is Brian Flores from the Tech Pals program at Lighthouse Guild. Today, I’ll be showcasing the Seeing AI app, specifically demonstrating the Short Text channel. The Short Text channel allows you to read text at a distance with audio. Let’s check it out!
How to Use the Short Text Channel
So, we’re on my device right now, and we’re going to open the Seeing AI app. The Seeing AI app looks like a light blue square with an “i” in the center and the letter “S” inside the “i.”
If you’re using VoiceOver, simply double-tap the screen to open the app. If you’re using vision, just tap on the icon.
The Short Text channel, if set by default, should automatically open when you start the app. If not, simply swipe up or down on the channels list with VoiceOver. If you’re using vision, the Short Text channel looks like two letter “T’s.”
As I explained, the Short Text channel will read text at a distance and provide audio feedback. Right now, I’m going to point the camera at a door, and you should be able to hear the sign: “Conference Room 2, 638.”
Just a heads-up, Short Text is quick to scan text, but this can sometimes lead to mistakes. A quick tip is that you can reset the scanning by covering the camera and then pointing it back at the text.
We hope this tutorial assists you in using Seeing AI. Be sure to check out the other tutorials in this series.
