Hello, my name is Jared from the Tech Pals program at Lighthouse Guild. Today, in the Seeing AI app, I’ll be showing you how to use the Handwriting Channel, which helps you read handwriting. Let’s do a demo.
How to Use the Handwriting Channel
Here, I have two handwritten birthday cards which I’ll be using Seeing AI to read today. Using VoiceOver, first I will open the Seeing AI app. From here, I’ll swipe right until I reach the list of channels, and then I’ll swipe up or down. In this case, I’ll swipe up until I hear “Handwriting.”
Once I hear “Handwriting,” I will swipe left until I hear “Take Picture.” Then, I’ll hold the phone over the document or card and take the picture.
Processing…
“CBB. Happy birthday. Love, love, love. Grandma.”
This is a birthday card from Grandma. Seeing AI can also read more than one kind of handwriting. Here, I have another birthday card. I’ll swipe left until I close the image, then double-tap to open the menu. I’ll swipe right until I hear “Take Picture.”
Take Picture…
Then, I’ll hold the camera over the card and take another picture.
Processing…
“Thanks for helping me. Happy birthday, Clob.”
If you’re not using VoiceOver, you can find the icon with a pencil and a squiggly line at the bottom of the screen. Tap that, and then just tap your screen to take the picture.
This is how you use Seeing AI to read handwritten text. In addition, it can read handwriting upside down, so you don’t have to worry about which way the handwriting faces. It can also read different handwritings and scripts. However, note that as the handwriting gets messier, it’s more likely to make mistakes.
We hope this tutorial assists you in using Seeing AI. Be sure to check out the other tutorials in this series.
