KKR Principal and Harvard Business School Trailblazer Joins Board, Deepening Expertise at the Intersection of Finance, Disability Advocacy, and Lived Experience
NEW YORK, APRIL 27, 2026 — Lighthouse Guild, the leading organization helping people who are blind or have experienced vision loss lead independent lives, today announced the appointment of Kathryn Webster to its Board of Directors. Webster brings a rare combination of financial acumen, civic leadership, and lived experience as a blind professional — a combination that directly strengthens Lighthouse Guild’s mission and its commitment to building an institution shaped by the communities it serves.
A Principal at KKR, one of the world’s premier global investment firms, Webster has built a distinguished career at the intersection of finance and social impact. She is a graduate of Harvard Business School, where she earned her MBA as the first totally blind person to receive that degree from Harvard — a milestone that reflects both her intellectual force and her ability to navigate and transform institutions. Before KKR, Webster honed her expertise at Deloitte, where she specialized in strategic transformation and business process reengineering.
Webster said, “Lighthouse Guild sits at a unique intersection: delivering world-class vision care while championing what people with visual impairments can achieve when given the right support and opportunity. I’ve spent my career building at that intersection — in finance, in advocacy, and in my own life — and I’m honored to bring that work to this board.”
Webster’s commitment to the blind and low-vision community extends well beyond her professional achievements. She is the founder of the TAD Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to expanding employment opportunities for blind and low-vision individuals across corporate America. She previously served as President of the National Association of Blind Students, the largest organization of its kind in the country, and spearheaded Project RISE, a mentorship program for blind and low-vision youth in Virginia under the National Federation of the Blind. She currently serves on the boards of Team See Possibilities and the Jacobus tenBroek Memorial Fund.
James M. Dubin, Chair of the Board of Lighthouse Guild, said, “We are thrilled to welcome Kathryn to the Lighthouse Guild board. Her record of achievement in finance and her fearless commitment to advocacy are a powerful combination. Kathryn has spent her career proving what is possible — for herself and for the broader community of people with vision loss. We look forward to the strategic insight, ambition, and lived perspective she will bring to our work.”
Her appointment expands Lighthouse Guild’s board bench of members with direct lived experience of vision loss — a dimension of leadership that informs more authentic, effective programming.
