Lighthouse Guild and Spectrum Spotlight Blind Changemakers in Entertainment and Content Creation at Lincoln Center
August 11, 2026
Industry leaders Lachi, Nicole Harris and Petr Kucheryavyy spotlighted how accessibility is transforming the creation and consumption of entertainment
NEW YORK, August 10, 2026 — On Saturday, Lighthouse Guild – the New York based non-profit empowering people who are blind or have vision loss to love, work, and shine – in partnership with Spectrum, the communications services company, held its 4th annual celebration focused on the state of blind content and entertainment: “Access in Focus: Blind Perspectives on Entertainment”. The event brought together blind professionals and accessibility advocates for a timely conversation about inclusion across film, television, theater, music, social media, and beyond.
Held at the Stanley H. Kaplan Penthouse at Lincoln Center, the event featured award-winning recording artist, author, and RAMPD.org founder/CEO Lachi; blind content creator, liberation-centered educator, and Love The Hope Project founder Nicole Harris; and Petr Kucheryavyy, Senior Director of Outreach, Communications, Learning and Development and product owner of the Spectrum Access app for Spectrum’s Accessibility team.
Throughout the discussion, panelists shared their personal and professional perspectives on the evolving role of accessibility in entertainment, the importance of including people who are blind or have low vision throughout the creative process, and the ways more inclusive storytelling and technology can improve the entertainment experience for everyone.
“What I treasure most about nights like this are the perspectives I hear from the audience, the people in our community, who feel heard and seen. That’s what makes this event so beautiful.” said Kiana Glanton, Lighthouse Guild’s lead for this event. “When one audience member shares a story of triumph and access, the affirmation and the camaraderie shared in the room is so powerful. As we like to say, never about us without us.”
“Blind people deserve to be more than a Hollywood trope,” said Lachi. “We deserve to be consumers, creators, and culture-shapers. What we’re building at RAMPD.org, and what other amazing blind leaders and creators in the space are building, proves that when we have access to pop culture, we can help shape the stories being told about us, challenge misconceptions, and dismantle the stigma that too often follows.”
The program reflected the event’s commitment to inclusion by offering live captioning and audio description. Following the panel, guests and panelists held a Q&A, sharing their own experiences navigating accessible entertainment and learning more about what’s possible.
The program concluded with a live performance from Lachi of her latest song “Fidget”, bringing entertainment and access into focus. Following the event, guests connected at a networking reception.
“Access in Focus” builds on Lighthouse Guild’s work to advance accessibility, independence, and opportunity for people who are blind or have low vision while creating platforms that center their expertise and lived experiences.
