Ride With Us. See NYC Like Never Before.
On Sunday, May 3rd, Team Lighthouse Guild is hitting the road for the TD 5 Boro Bike Tour—40 miles of pure New York City magic, car-free streets, and unforgettable sights and sounds.
Our team’s mission is to raise support for Lighthouse Guild’s programs and services that help blind and visually impaired individuals attain their goals, while pairing as many visually impaired cyclists with sighted captains on tandem bikes as possible. Whether you’re riding solo, or in tandem, your efforts will help us reach our goal!
What Is Tandem Riding?
Tandem riders pedal together—one visually impaired rider and one sighted captain—sharing trust, communication, and the road ahead. It’s not symbolic. It’s real teamwork, mile after mile.
From the Bronx to Brooklyn, Queens to Manhattan, and across Staten Island, this isn’t just a bike ride. It’s a celebration of independence, community, and what’s possible when we come together.
Why Ride With Team Lighthouse Guild?
40 miles. 5 boroughs. 1 incredible day.
When you ride with Team Lighthouse Guild, you’re not just pedaling through the city—you’re helping to show that people with vision loss are unstoppable. Whether riding solo or on a tandem bike, every mile helps make a difference for blind and visually impaired individuals.
You’ll see New York City like never before: no cars, no traffic, just pure energy and the thrill of riding through streets that are usually off-limits to bikes.
Plus, Team Lighthouse Guild riders enjoy exclusive perks:
- Priority access to the front of the starting line
- VIP entry at the finish line in Staten Island, featuring food, refreshments, and festivities
And here’s the best part: every dollar riders raise goes directly to helping people who are blind or visually impaired achieve their goals—whatever they may be. Whether it’s learning to get around independently, mastering new technology, earning a degree, or riding 40 miles through NYC on a tandem bike with a trusted captain, your support makes it possible!

Not Riding? You Can Still Join The Team!
Not everyone can pedal 40 miles, and that’s okay — there are so many ways to support Team Lighthouse Guild:
- Donate to the team – Sponsor the team and fuel their journey
- Volunteer on event day – Help at water stops, cheer stations, and finish line celebrations
- Become a team sponsor – Support the entire team with a corporate or individual sponsorship
- Spread the word – Share our mission and help us reach more supporters
However you show up, you’re helping people who are blind or visually impaired live fuller, more independent lives.
Every Mile Matters. Every Dollar Counts.
When you ride or support Team Lighthouse Guild, 100% of the funds raised go directly to our mission: empowering people who are blind or visually impaired to be unstoppable.
That means:
- Vision rehabilitation that teaches independent living skills
- Assistive technology training that opens new doors
- Youth programs that build confidence and community
- Low vision care that maximizes remaining sight
- Employment support that helps people thrive in their careers
Your support doesn’t just get someone across the finish line—it helps them build the life they want to live.

Whether you’re hopping on a tandem bike or cheering from the sidelines, Team Lighthouse Guild wants you.
