About the Session
This session will provide an overview of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and the key components of an Individualized Education Program (IEP). It will also share practical tips to help parents prepare for meetings, better understand the process, and advocate effectively to achieve the best possible outcomes for their children.
Speakers
Paul Geraci – Children’s Consultant, New York State Office of Children and Family Services / Commission for the Blind
Paul works closely with families, educators, and service providers to ensure that children who are blind or have low vision receive the support, resources, and guidance they need to thrive. Paul brings extensive knowledge of early intervention, educational planning, and family-centered services, making him a valuable resource for parents navigating available programs and supports.
Nancy Doyle – NY State Certified Teacher of the Visually Impaired
Nancy has been working with blind and visually impaired children at the Lighthouse Guild for over 15 years. She currently provides vision services for the Lighthouse Guild at the Adapt Community Network Manhattan Preschool Program.
