Lighthouse Guild Program Specializes in Services for People with Vision Loss
New York (October 27, 2021) –Lighthouse Guild is pleased to announce the reopening of its GuildCare Albany Adult Day Health Care program and the appointment of its new director, Nancy Ann Smith. Ms. Smith will be responsible for day-to-day operations and overall management of the GuildCare Albany program that closed last year in accordance with COVID-19 guidelines.
GuildCare, the only Adult Day Health Care program in New York State specializing in services for people with vision loss, provides services to adults ages 18 and older who have been diagnosed with a chronic medical condition. Services available include nursing care, medication management, diabetes care, physical, occupational and speech therapy, social work services, nutritional counseling, vision rehabilitation, therapeutic activities, morning snack and lunch. Services and activities are specially designed and adapted for individuals with all levels of disability – physical, cognitive and visual. Individuals do not have to be blind to qualify for GuildCare programs. The program can provide an alternative to a nursing home, offering necessary care while allowing one to live at home.
To ensure the health and safety of all, a negative COVID-19 test is required before clients return or enroll in GuildCare. Health assessment checks are performed upon arrival and stringent cleaning and health protocols are in place. Masks are mandatory for all staff and program attendees, and social distancing is being maintained during all activities.
In addition to GuildCare Albany, located at 30 Century Hill Drive, Latham, NY, Lighthouse Guide operates GuildCare programs in Buffalo, Manhattan and Niagara Falls, all of which have recently reopened after being put on hold last year by the New York State Department of Health (DOH) due to the pandemic.
