Join Lighthouse Guild’s Tech experts Dr. Bryan Wolynski and Shanell Matos for a discussion on the Seeing AI App and  learn how the app utilizes artificial intelligence to recognize and describe objects, people and text through the power of computer vision that enhance accessibility for individuals with visual impairments.

The session will cover:

  • The fundamental features of the Seeing AI app with use cases and demonstrations in a step-by-step walkthrough covering practical usage scenarios and demonstrating its capabilities in real-time.
  • Insights on how you can customize settings for your individual preferences and needs.
  • A glimpse into the app’s recent updates and new features that enhance its functionality for the visually impaired community.

Dr. Bryan Wolynski, OD FAAO, is the Chief Technology Officer at Lighthouse Guild, an organization dedicated to providing services to those who are visually impaired, so they can achieve their goals. He oversees all technology resources for the organization, including the recently opened Lighthouse Guild Technology Center, and develops strategies to bring the latest technological advances to people who are blind and visually impaired.

Shanell Matos is a technology assistant for the Lighthouse Guild Technology Center, leveraging her expertise, education, and passion for assistive technology from her first-hand experience with vision loss. Her exceptional skills with technology and ambition have assisted with her career goals and access to the things she loves.

Tech In-Session series is a monthly, in-person, interactive discussion group to explore current and future technologies for people with vision loss. This is an opportunity to join our community focused on ways technology can improve our lives.

The program is open to anyone interested in assistive technology – whether you are a user, family member, professional in the field, or simply curious. Some discussion topics will include current technology trends, challenges and solutions, the future of assistive technology, technology, and daily living, and more.

Each session will begin with learning about a featured technology or specific topic such as a demonstration of an app or device, a presentation by a tech developer, or a discussion on the latest technology updates. This is followed by a chance to share and ask questions.
